Live Your Dream Award

Empowering Women Through Education

On May 9th in West Vancouver, community members gathered to celebrate the Soroptimist International of North & West Vancouver Dream Awards, recognizing the resilience and impact of exceptional women and girls. Among the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the Live Your Dream Award, a powerful tribute to women determined to transform their lives through education.

We are proud to honour these incredible women and support their journeys toward independence and success.

Congratulations to the 2025 Award Recipients!

This year’s recipients have overcome profound challenges—from poverty and single parenthood to domestic violence. Their courage and commitment to building better lives through education inspire us all.

We awarded Michelle James-Akin, Samantha Bolton and Anjali Pandey.

Michelle gave a moving speech about her life and educational journey. She is here with Dr. Elder Roberta Price.

I have emerged from the shadows, not unscathed, but stronger and more determined. My experiences have shaped me into the person I am today and I am proud of the progress I have made.
— Michelle James-Akin

About the Award

The Live Your Dream Award is more than a financial award—it’s a lifeline. Designed for women who are the primary financial support for their families, the award provides vital funding to help them pursue higher education, develop new skills, and create brighter futures for themselves and their children.

Globally, more than half of Live Your Dream Award applicants are survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, or sexual assault. Their stories are testaments to strength, resilience, and the transformative power of opportunity.
