2007 SI Awards Dinner and Photos

SI of North and West Vancouver held their annual Awards Dinner on Thursday 8th March at 6.30pm, International Women's Day.  It was held at Chez Michel Bistro in North Vancouver.

The Violet Richardson Awards were presented to three young women between the ages of 14 and 17 who have made their schools and communities better places through their volunteer efforts.  The awards to the girls and their organisations total $3,500.   The winner of this award received a total of $800 between herself and her international organisation.

The Women's Opportunity Award is given to a woman who is the head of her household and is furthering her education.

                      

                                   

                           


2006 SI Awards Dinner and Photos

SI of North & West Vancouver held their annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday, 8th March at 6.30 p.m.  A new venue, the Atrium at Lonsdale Quay Hotel, was chosen for this year’s event.  Among the guests attending was Governor Sharon.

 

The three winners of the Women’s Opportunity Award, which is given to single mothers who are furthering their education to improve the standard of living for themselves and their families, share a total of $3,000.  The club also be recognised our candidate for the Making a Difference for Women award, Jody Sydor.

 

Also in attendance at the dinner was Nadia Roberts, the first place Western winner of the 2005 Soroptimist Foundation Award.  Nadia is presently studying for an MA in Anthropology at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and this was an opportunity for members of the club to meet her and also to learn a little more about her and her plans for the future.

 

March 8 is International Women’s Day and is also the day Soroptimists around the world will launch a new “Live Your Dream” campaign to raise awareness of the challenges faced by women around the world and the club will take the opportunity to promote the campaign brochure and the new Live Your Dream pins.
